Montana Has a Surprising Favorite Music Genre
What's your favorite genre of music? Despite working on a country music station, I can't say I have a definitive No. 1 answer. Some days I like Americana, others I like punk rock, and others I like rock.
It varies from day to day.
A website called Mental Floss gathered information from SeatPick, a ticket search engine, to determine every state's favorite music genre.
" Using Google Trends, SeatPick compiled a list of the most-searched music genres in each state over the past 12 months. A total of 18 genres made the cut: jazz, R&B, hip hop, rock, country, pop, punk, metal, classical, blues, folk, gospel, reggae, EDM, Latin, indie, soul, and bluegrass." - Mental Floss

Montana's favorite music genre: METAL
Our most searched music genre was heavy metal. How about that? We were one of twelve states that responded with "metal," which was the most popular response overall.
I'm not sure how accurate that is, if I'm being honest. Google Trends indicates that it was the most searched genre, which I suppose could be accurate. Maybe a lot of people are intrigued by metal, or don't know which bands would be considered metal. I don't know, but I have a difficult time believing metal is the most popular genre in Montana.

The other states that favored metal were our neighbors Idaho and Wyoming, plus New Mexico, Alaska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wisconsin, Ohio, Maine, and New Hampshire.
