Wine Bottles Shattered as Man Tries to Steal in Missoula
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 27, 2025, a Missoula Police Department officer was dispatched to a call for service at the Albertsons on East Broadway. A man outside the business appeared to be extremely intoxicated with labored breathing. The fire department and MESI unit was inside of the store when the officer arrived.
The officer met with a fireman who explained they had been dispatched to 29-year-old Kordell Cummins three times that day, and that he had been transported to the hospital multiple times. The fireman said that Cummins had been inside of Albertsons eating and drinking items without paying for them. The officer saw Cummins sitting in the store’s scooter. Cummins appeared to be conscious and breathing and not having a medical emergency.
The officer then spoke with the manager of Albertsons. The manager explained that Cummins was riding the store’s scooter and that he rammed it into a case of wine, damaging the product. Cummins then picked up a bottle of wine, rolled it up in his shirt, and passed all points of sale without purchasing the product. Employees approached Cummins and asked him if he was going to purchase the wine, but he just blankly stared at them.

The officer then returned to Cummins, told him to stand up, and asked him to walk outside the store. Cummins did not move and remained sitting on the scooter. The officer again told Cummins to stand up and walk out of the store, and Cummins complied. As the two were exiting the store, another officer told the officer that Cummins had previously been trespassed from the Albertsons on November 17, 2024, and that Cummins was advised of this trespass.
The officer then advised Cummins that he was under arrest for burglary. Cummins responded by asking, “Burglary?” The officer explained to Cummins that he unlawfully entered the Albertsons because he was previously trespassed, and that when he was inside the store, he committed offenses by stealing a bottle of wine and damaging multiple other bottles of wine.

Cummins was transported to the Missoula County Detention Center. He is currently being charged with felony burglary.
