Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - The Missoula County Attorney’s Office filed 13 new felony complaints this week, which is 15 less than last week and closer to the weekly average. County Attorney Matt Jennings provided the report.

“We had two endangerment crimes, three property crimes, a couple drug crimes, and one fugitive from justice,” Jennings said. “We've seen some of the normal drug crimes drop recently. I don't know that that's anything to read too far into. Sometimes, it has to do with policing. Sometimes it ebbs and flows with the seasons or other things going on with law enforcement, but we're tracking that trend a little bit.”

Jennings said he heard that the deaths related to Fentanyl have been on the decline.

“Sadly, I don’t necessarily know that that means people are using less of it,” Jennings said. “I think users are getting more used to what it takes to not get too hurt. We still prosecute those, but at least we're glad to see that people that are falling into the trap of addiction aren't dying at such alarming rates.”

Jennings added that they continue to see a lot of DUIs.

“We had a child get run over this week,” Jennings said. “He's OK. He broke a leg by a DUI driver. We had another person that was on pretrial release while his fifth DUI was pending, and then he got his sixth one this week as well. Those are kind of tough to watch. We still do what we can to protect the community even while cases are pending and always insist on either adequate bail or certain monitoring.”
