Missoula Man Faces Serious Charges After Dramatic Police Encounter
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On June 24th, 2025, at approximately 1:01 PM, Missoula Police Department officers were called to a report of a verbal disturbance in the 2300 block of South Avenue West. It was reported that 23-year-old Trevin Welzien was in "crisis" and had been verbal with his grandmother during the day. One of the officers knew that Trevin had a current warrant for his arrest for a Partner Family Member Assault against his father.
The officer also knew Trevin to be extremely confrontational with law enforcement, and that he had officer safety information for being trained in martial arts, and that a SWAT team had to be utilized to take him into custody for an unrelated matter on June 18th, 2025, due to him being an extreme danger to others.
The officer was also aware that it had been reported recently that members of the Missoula Police Department who worked out at the martial arts studio with Trevin had ongoing concerns about his violent behavior, concluding that it was exacerbated by the use of performance-enhancing drugs.
In addition, the officer was aware of at least two other contacts with law enforcement Trevin had within the last month, with escalating violent behavior, resulting in Trevin being trespassed from a local business for continuous harassment.

Trevin Ignores Officer’s Commands
When officers arrived, Trevin continued to ignore commands from them and appeared very agitated. Trevin was informed that he was under arrest on at least three occasions and was given at least five commands to turn around, which he ignored.
Due to Trevin's current actions and what the officer knew about him from recent history, he drew his taser and pointed it at Trevin, arming it and informing him again that he was under arrest. The officer ordered Trevin to turn around and put his hands behind his back, but he continued to refuse to comply.
According to court documents, Trevin began telling the officer, “If you tase me, I will sue you!” After claiming this at least two more times, the officer told Trevin, “I am not worried about being sued.” That is when Trevin responded, “If you tase me, I will kill you, how about that?” Trevin continued to make further statements about the officer being killed and said, “This is about to be your last day.”

Trevin Continues to Threaten the Officer
Officers attempted to escort Trevin to the back of a patrol vehicle, but Trevin continued to actively resist by pulling away. At one point, Trevin turned to the officer and said, “Let go of me, f****t!” while spraying saliva onto the officer’s face. The officer placed his hand in front of Trevin’s mouth to prevent him from spitting on him, and Trevin attempted to bite the officer’s finger. Trevin was eventually escorted to a patrol car, detained in the rear seat, and transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility.
Trevin is currently being charged with felony threats/improper influence in official and political matters and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $50,000.
