I've lived in Montana for years, and during that time, things have changed a bit.

When I first moved to Montana, it was the type of place where people had their opinions and somehow we all got along and went about our business. Of course, that has changed over the years, and some would say, not for the best.

I used to tell people that Montana was the type of place that people would go out hunting all day, then come home and donate to PBS. It was unique, it a good way.

While opinions have shifted and politics play a bigger role in our lives, one thing hasn't changed, Montanans love their guns. Whether for hunting, collecting, or self-defense, Montanans have an extraordinary amount of firearms.

As someone who has multiple firearms myself, I love the fact that I live in a place that embraces gun ownership. So, how many guns are there in Montana? Well, we won't know the answer to that question, but we do know how many Montanans own guns.

How many Montanans own guns?

According to data, 66.3% of Montana adults own at least one firearm, and when you look at that percentage, it leads the nation. Although, I will tell you that Wyoming is very close with 66.2%.

Now, I'm not here to get into some debate over guns, but I would much rather be surrounded by good people with weapons than someone with bad intentions and no one with weapons. That's just common sense to me.

I also believe that a person should have training and store their firearms in a safe place.
