Something changed. Somebody got to Zelensky beforehand and blew up that meeting at the Oval Office last Friday.

More on that behind the scenes insight from Senator Daines below...but first...what was his reaction after being in the room for President Trump's speech Tuesday night?

"It was a great night. America is back, and I know so many Americans were were encouraged by what he had to say last night." That was US Senator Steve Daines' (R-MT) who joined us first thing on the radio Wednesday morning.

Senator Daines: I guess what struck me too, Aaron, was what he's (President Trump) done in just 42 days. It feels like Trump's been president again, like for three years. In 42 days, the border is secured again. The lowest illegal entries into our country ever was in February. And as President Trump said, we didn't need new laws and this and that. We just needed a new president to secure the southern border. When we had 21 million under Biden flooding the southern border, and Trump had just less than 8,000 during the entire month of February. What he's done in unleashing energy production, what he's doing in terms of military recruiting- think about this, that we have an all time record in terms of the army recruiting. And that's because President Trump is standing up and talking about the mission of the military is to be a war fighter, not to be promoting some kind of woke ideology. And so, I think the entire spirits of the country were lifted last night."

I also joked about how President Trump asked Democrats if they wanted the Ukraine to go on for another 5 years. "Pocahontas says yes," the president added, after seeing Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) in the crowd.

Did Senate Democrats tell Ukrainian President Zelensky to NOT accept the deal prior to the meeting in the oval office?

Senator Daines: "You know, something changed there Aaron, because he was all set to sign that deal. He was going to sign it, ink it, and then they were going to have a lunch. And it was all prepared. But the problem, it looks like somebody talked him out of it before he went to that meeting the Oval Office, and it was a tragic moment. I hope they can recover. It sounds like Zelensky is coming back on the apology tour to President Trump. He needed to show respect. Remember, Zelensky was campaigning for Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania in September."
